Google Invades the Smartphone Industry

The American Company Google unveiled their first smartphone Google Pixel with extraordinary specifications! Google are hoping that these features and specifications will allow them to compete in the smartphone world and go head-to-head against Apple (American) and Samsung (South Korean) – the two top companies in the smartphone industry.

Google wants to release their phones on October 20^th 2016 and experts see this act as a direct competition to Apple. This is a timing chosen specifically to compete during the holiday season.

Google is still improving and developing to stay ahead in the tech world especially since it is ranked the best search engine worldwide. The word Google is even now added to the dictionary as a synonym to ‘search’. That is because if you want to ask someone something they do not have an answer for, they would simply tell you to “Google it”, which also mean to search it online on Google. It also includes other activities like Google Maps and Google Earth!

Google will release two versions of their new smartphone; Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. We will list the specifications of both phones in this article. The phones will be available to preorder on Google’s website in the United States, Canada, Australia, Britain, and Germany on the 4^th of October 2016. It will be released to the rest of the market on the end of October 2016.

The new Google phone has a similar design to other phones like Samsung, Huawei, and Apple! But that does not mean they have the same exact design as Google Pixel has clearer buttons, higher resolution, exceptional cameras, and a full steel exterior made from aluminum!

From the specifications that blew the experts minds away were: the phone can be charged for 15 minutes only and last for 7 hours, special apps by Google, and high and excellent performance.

As it is known for everyone, Google Company helped many other companies design their phones like Huawei with their Nexus 6P and LG with their Nexus 5X. This enables Google to design their sturdy and stylish phones!

Specifications of Google Pixel

Beginning with the dimensions of Google Pixel, it has a length of 143.8 millimeter (14.38 centimeters), a width of 69.5 millimeters (6.95 centimeters), and a thickness of 8.6 millimeters (less than 1 centimeter), with a weight of 143 grams (5.04 ounces).

It has a 5.0 inch LED screen making a percentage of 69.0% of the whole phone and with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. The screen is also covered with the fourth generation Gorilla Corning crash and break resistant glass!

Google Pixel operates on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and is powered by the new Android 7.0 operating system – also known as Nougat. It will be available to the market in two internal storage units: the first is 32 gigabytes and the second 128 gigabytes. Both versions will have a 4 gigabyte RAM.

It also has a rear (main) camera with a resolution of 12.3 megapixels and an f/2.0 lens aperture. The selfie (front) camera will have a resolution of 8 megapixels and an f/2.0 lens aperture as well!

Google equipped their new phone, the Pixel, with a non-removable 2770 mAh battery with fast charging feature. It also has fingerprint recognition for password. Google pixel will be available in the following colors to the market: blue (really blue), silver (quite silver), and black (very black).

Specification of Google Pixel XL

Moving on to their second phone Google Pixel XL which has bigger dimensions than Google Pixel! It has length of 154.7 millimeters (15.47 centimeters), width of 75.7 millimeters (7.57 centimeters), and a thickness of 8.6 millimeters (less than 1 centimeters), and a weight of 168 grams (5.93 inches).

Google equipped Google Pixel XL with a bigger screen as well. XL has a 5.5 inch screen making a percentage of 71.2% of the whole phone and a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. The screen is also covered with the fourth generation Corning Gorilla glass (crash and break resistance).

As for other specifications, Pixel XL has similar features to that of the normal Pixel except for the battery! XL has a 3450 mAh non-removable battery.

Will Google Make it in the Smartphone Industry?

It is expected that Google phones will compete against other similar phones – like Apple’s iPhones! Since it has excellent and very high specifications and features, with a price similar to Apple phones! Google has confirmed during the press release they held for unveiling their new phones that their smartphone will be available in October 2016 will have a price beginning at 650 USD (460 JODs) before taxes as the price varies between different countries.

Generally, the camera is one of the top specifications in Google smartphones! That is according to experts who do tests on the resolution and quality of digital cameras and smartphone cameras.

We must note that Android operating system was developed and improved by Google. With that being said, it is obvious that users will be thrilled to use a phone that is powered on Android and manufactured by Google since the most used operating system by other companies is Android (like Samsung and Huawei).

Upon announcing their new phone, Google also unveiled their new virtual reality (VR) glasses called Day Dream. Day Dream VR glasses will be available in the market the beginning of November 2016 with a price of 80 USDs (57 JODs) before taxes.

Even though HTC the Taiwanese Company manufactured the new Google phones, the process was carried under the supervision of Google Company, with definitive and strict standards.

According to Google’s official website, the new phones will have the best smartphone camera so far. It will also have a battery that lasts for a whole day (7 hours), and unlimited image and video storage! The storage will be done on Google’s online cloud Google drive!

Also, one of Google’s new innovations that will be added to their new phone is Google Assist! Google assist is a virtual assistant designed to give the user all the information they might need.

According to all the exceptional specifications, features, and reasonable prices, it is expected that the new Google phone will have an upper-hand and an advantage in the market. This is also true since the company announced the release of their phone before the holiday season as an attempt to further increase their sales!

There is no doubt that this new Google product will be considered a turning point in the company’s history. And even after all the positive feedback and expectation, it is still too early to make huge speculations about it as we are still waiting for its release and user reviews and ratings!
